The use of literacy plays a huge role in our classroom. Before students are able to apply and practice new social skills, they need to be able to see it played out through others. The perfect way for this to happen is through picture books. Students are able to make connections to the scenarios and characters in books, and thus able to apply it to their every day lives. By providing my students with these books, they will have a better sense of ownership over important skills such as empathy, kindness, perseverance, and acceptance. These books will support life-long learning for many years to come!
