My students are fourth graders, ranging between 8 and 10 years old. They are a diverse population in terms of gender, race, culture, religion, and socioeconomic status. Twenty percent of my students are classified with special needs and need accommodations both in and out of the classroom. Some of the special needs include ADHD, speech impairments, autism, and anxiety. My classroom also has a large population of English language learners, the majority of them coming from families that fall below the poverty level and receive free or reduced lunch.
