About my class

My students are a great bunch of kids! Our school serves the Ojibwe community in northern Minnesota and is set in the north woods where we have access to the natural resources traditionally used by the Ojibwe people. In addition to learning the academics, our students learn about Ojibwe cultural traditions and history. Many of our families live in the rural area surrounding the school, while others live in nearby towns. My particular group of students is special in another way: they all have learning disabilities, and most of them have problems with reading comprehension and/or fluency, leading to frustration because they can't keep up with class work and teacher expectations. I work with them closely in their regular education classrooms and collaborate with their regular education teachers to try to find solutions that will help my students be successful in school.
