As we approach our geography unit on Africa, I would love for my kids to make a personal connection to the people and their music. Students will explore African instruments such as the Djembe from Mali, the Talking Drum from Ghana, the Sistrum Shaker from Egypt, and the GanKeke bell from Benin as they gallery walk through the continent. We need African drums, rattles, and bells. During this experience students will not only learn to play the instruments but will use technology to research their origins and purposes. Rather than just coloring maps and writing basic country reports, your donation will allow my students to to discover the ways in which various tribes celebrated, mourned, and connected with one another. Thank you for donating to our project!
