In our class we have a structure that allows every student to have a personal collection of books to read each day. Students are allowed to choose 5-8 books each week to read during station time each day. Reading is essential to a student's academic success! Students will be allowed to grab their personal book box and find a comfy spot in our classroom to sit and read. Their book box will be able to travel around the room with them, creating ownership for that student. Non-fiction literature is key to establishing background knowledge and building vocabulary. Our classroom library is in desperate need of non-fiction books in order to make our students successful. Students will also use book bags to take books home to read with their parents.
