My school can best be described as an amazing learning environment where students and teachers take active accountability for success every day. With over 850 students at a Title I school, we take pride in offering a Leadership and Advanced Math Program to 67 4-6 grade students and gifted services to 65 K-6 students. Advanced math students qualify for this unique program through exceeding scores on District and state assessments as well as teacher recommendations. the 16:1 student to teacher ratio allows me to create personalized learning opportunities for students as I teach students in a holistic model using engaging activities and providing opportunities for them to become leaders in the classroom and in the community. In fact, our Gifted, or Project Potential Program, sponsors a classroom community initiative which encourages local community members to visit our classroom and learn about STEM partnerships.
