My classroom has always been a highly important environment for me, throughout my 10 year career. Being a learner that thrives in visual habitats, I knew that I wanted my classroom to be bright, inviting, entertaining and comfortable for all students, new and returning. As a Language Arts teacher, I make sure to include the visual arts, painting, sketching and drawing, as well as, the arts that are attributed to our inner city social structure - most notably graffiti and mural creation. Helping shape well-rounded and adjusted young adults in a district that has slashed budgets and removed Art programs, is a passion of mine, and even though I may not have a degree in the Arts, I can help my students appreciate them little by little.
