Reading Fluency, Reading Comprehension, and Response to Reading through Written Expression are key focuses in Third Grade. To expose students to a variety of texts is so important at this grade level. Students work to make connections with things they have learned in previous grades, things they have experienced in their lives, explore their individual interests, and learn new things. TIME for Kids Magazine includes a variety of high quality articles which are both engaging and relevant. The topics, vocabulary, and reading levels will challenge the readers to use critical thinking skills and practice reading strategies. The teacher resources provided would significantly reduce planning time. The outcome of having this resource would be the exposure of students to real world articles about things from all over the world, improve their reading skills, and increase their vocabulary. The notebooks requested will also provide practice opportunities in written expression.
