Some of my students have never been exposed to cultures and beliefs other than their own, which makes it hard for them to relate to each other and understand each others differences. These materials will be helpful in exposing them to different cultures and learning how others live as well as helping them develop a more extensive vocabulary. The Continents of the World Activity Chest and Cultures of the World Theme Box will provide great visuals and hands-on learning opportunities. With these materials, learning will be made so much more meaningful than reading a chapter in an outdated social studies textbook. "In diversity there is beauty and there is strength." - Maya Angelou. If we take the time to teach our students about people who are different than them while they are young, they will be more empathetic and caring adults. We are responsible for teaching them and showing them that the world is a big, beautiful place with so much to offer. They will be faced with people from different places and different cultures for the rest of their life, I want to set them up for future success with as much knowledge as possible.
