My students are part of a public charter school that implements a museum approach to education and learning. Our school is truly a community school, founded by parents and community members who dreamed of a public school that would better meet the needs of the diverse population we serve. Our school approaches learning differently, using a researched-based method that shows that children learn best through hands-on, real-life experiences. Our school partners with museums and other community places (like the zoo and aquarium) to take our students' learning beyond our classroom walls. The result of this educational approach is a group of curious, eager, and independent learners who thrive in the areas of problem-solving, communication, and exploration.
