Our elementary school is situated in the quaint neighborhood of Makakilo. Our school sits atop a hill that has a crystal clear view of the Pacific Ocean and Diamond Head Crater. My 5th grade class is comprised of vibrant and energetic students from various ethnic backgrounds like Hawaiian, Samoan, Filipino, Caucasian, Vietnamese, Korean, Chinese, Micronesian, and Japanese. What I love most about my students is their curiosity. They love to listen to stories of my youth and my experiences in Hawaii public schools. Mostly, though, they love to hear about my experiences in college. Most of them aspire to continue their education after high school. The others are now beginning to seriously consider post high school education as a viable option. Their thirst for adventure and exploration will lead them to success!
