My students are 8th graders, some with harder lives than we can imagine. Many have immigrated or are refugees from other countries. In our school 100% of the students receive free breakfast and lunch. Teachers today, especially in my district, are faced with the difficult task of keeping our students excited about learning, without a budget. I teach ELA (English Language Arts) to over 80 8th graders. A lot of them struggle with reading so that any "new" thing I can do to get them reading, I will try. My 8th graders come to class excited to learn, and quality reading materials are key. Doing this small thing for my students would let them know that someone other than me cares.
