Greetings from Helena, Arkansas! As a founding teacher at KIPP Delta Elementary Literacy Academy, a rural school, I feel compelled to share the story of my students with you. Education reform has taken center stage in this country. These conversations, however, are almost always geared towards urban education reform, and rarely around rural education reform. In the small town of Helena, my students have a tremendous opportunity in front of them. They have the opportunity to receive an amazing education, leave for college and then come back and truly begin the transformation of their town. To do this, my third and fourth graders need to develop a love of reading, by reading books they are interested in on a daily basis. Any donation would help my students develop and strengthen a love for reading.
