Letters and letter sounds are the number one goal students need to master before leaving Kindergarten. Since I teach in a bilingual school, students must learn the letters and sounds in English and Spanish. Due to Covid, most of my students have never attended school before and are nervous to start their first Hybrid experience. Therefore, I want to make sure learning is fun and hands-on while still abiding by the Covid regulations. I am requesting Alphabet Soup Sorters that can be divided between students so that everyone can learn their letters and sounds at once. The alphabet pocket chart will also be another great way to have hands-on fun learning about the alphabet and will allow me to also use it with students one on one or in small groups for those that are struggling. Because students are learning 2 languages at once, having hands-on materials that teach these basic but essential skills are necessary. Although some letter sounds in English and Spanish are the same, one thing that is exactly the same is the way letters are written. Therefore, these single line white boards will allow them to learn to write the letters correctly while each student got their very own in order to stay safe. I want the very best for my students. And although it has been a difficult few months for all of us, it has been extremely difficult for our young students. With it being their first year in a school, I want learning letters to be fun, engaging, and safe.
