My middle school students come from an inner city neighborhood. Often times you can see the students struggle by what they wear. My school is a very nice facility and does its best to make many opportunities for the kids so they may stay out of trouble. The school is made of majority Hispanics and African Americans. Sometimes it is hard for the kids because the school does not have all of the materials they may need for the kids. For some of these students, their outlet is school and if we don't have the materials we need it creates chaos for the classroom. If there is chaos then the students can not enjoy school the way it is meant to be enjoyed. My students were so excited the first day but now that they heard they may have to pay for the materials, that took away a lot of the excitement. My students need classroom books, leg rests, tuba bits, and snare stands.
