Students actively engaged in learning is at the core of my educational mission. I have been very thankful to have such great supporters. My classroom is set up for Balanced Literacy. I use flexible seating in my classroom, with bouncy bands on my Desks and exercise balls around my Kidney Table. My students start and end the day on the floor: carpet and astroturf! My students have low tables that allow for a mixed use/seating alternatives that allow each student to be comfortable in their space. The are areas for independent reading around my classroom, and a main reading area near the classroom library. My students love getting books from my library, especially when they find a book they've been wanting to read, but the Media Center does not have the book or the copy is never available for the student. In addition, I use pillows and light shades to create a positive learning environment.
