We are studying sustainability and our impact on the planet. As we inquire about waste production and waste management in a sustainable system, we will explore composting and food waste. The worms will be a part of our learning both inside and outside of the classroom. All students will be encouraged to bring their food waste to the worms and watch as they turn it into compost. From there we will use the worm tea to fertilize our garden. Right before their eyes, the students will witness the nutrient cycle in action! This project will benefit the 7th graders in their study of sustainability, the 8th graders as they study consumerism and waste, the Green team, the gardening club, and any elementary classes who are looking at cycles and waste! These worms will become a part of our CFI family! Now they just need a name! Note: Worms will be purchased separately. Thank you so much for supporting hands-on learning!
