I teach at the only middle school in a small, mainly agricultural area. My goal is to bring to these students opportunities to access STEM and provide them with an avenue to greater high school, college, and career success. Our school has a large percentage of students with free or reduced priced lunch, with many students coming from single parent homes with no family college experience. The high schools in town have begun the process of integrating Engineering based courses into their schools, but as the only middle school in town, I am trying to allow earlier access to this content. I am tasked with the challenge of inspiring them to set goals for themselves beyond high school. My goal is to bring robotics, 3D design and printing, and Architectural design into the classroom. My charge is to use these courses to inspire them into the future. Their future.
