Students have moved past the idea of siting in desks aligned in rows and columns. They have grown weary of the idea of sitting up in a desk for hours on end listening to teachers lecture. They even despise the idea of doing any form of work on pencil and paper. I want to create an environment in my class that makes the students feel welcome and at home since they spend so much time in the classroom. I have found that students retain information better when they don't realize that they are actually doing "work". Being able to sit somewhere that is not a desk makes learning less intimidating for students. This is the reason for the flexible seating materials that I wish to provide for my students. The boards and wipe pockets excite them because it is not their typical pencil and paper, so this will help keep them engaged when practicing reading skills. The rotating caddies will be filled with all of the supplies my students may need as they often come to school without the basic necessities. I would love your assistance and helping my students feel like the star pupils they are!
