Many of my students to not yet have the ability to get their needs and wants met through oral language. They use other forms of communication, such as crying. One way to start teaching these skills is through the use of cause and effect toys. Both the Magical Light Show and the Music Box chosen for this project help students to learn that when they touch a button something interesting happens. This, in turn, will later translate into students using AAC for communication. All students deserve the chance to learn how to communicate. It is wonderful that, at this time, there are cause and effect toys to help students grow within their development.
