My students struggle with understanding text and especially struggle with basic word attack skills. They attend a large high school of approximately 1650 students. They are grouped in smaller classes of 12-15 students to receive intensive instruction with reading skills and writing skills. Most of the students are several grades below in skill level. They struggle in many of their classes that require reading and study skills, and do not understand much of what they read because they have to work to read the words first.
