Thanks to the donors and Donor's Choose, my classroom is often visited by students that don't have me as a teacher, from the severely learning disabled students to the advanced students about to graduate. As soon as my door is opened in the morning, students I know as well as students I haven't met yet come in with their friends, looking and learning. They are doing this on their own, for their own interest, learning because they are interested. An educator's dream! We now have prepared specimens as well as a living ecosystem complete with fire-bellied toads. Locals have donated a tarantula and Greater Sirens (an aquatic salamander). I utilize these things every day and my students are learning so much from them. They can now see nature themselves, observe plants and animals, and see biology in action. Every day I am thankful for Donor's Choose and what it has allowed me to bring to my classroom and teaching.
