In the past year and a half that I have been teaching, I have noticed that the biggest distraction to students is themselves. Students can not keep themselves still for too long! Their brains cannot process this and neither can their body. Guess what though... THAT IS PERFECTLY FINE! Students should be able to move, they should be able to take some time and simply relax their minds and bodies. I simply want to give my students this opportunity to move while they are learning. Studies have shown that students who are moving or fidgeting while learning do significantly better when recalling the information they were given. With this project, I will have several different seating options for the students including wobble chairs, bouncy chairs, options to sit on the floor, different table options, and group seating options. Students will be able to try out the different seating options and either decide on one option for the year, or change it up based on their mood. I truly believe that this will help my students improve in their listening, their understanding, and their overall thought process while learning about a specific task. In the end, this project will help my students reach their academic potentials that I know they can reach!
