My students are so funny and eager to learn, yet they are students who do not flourish in a typical public school setting. My school is a Title I institution (formerly dubbed a "second chance school"), and all of our students are deemed at-risk. Maintaining a positive mindset is one of the biggest challenges for my students who live in this tourist haven, yet many of them cannot afford to enjoy the area. My students embody the close knit spirit of our community; however, with a high transient population, 100% of our students qualify for free or reduced lunch programs, keeping them motivated to love reading is one of my biggest hurdles. We love reading about science, sports, mysteries, history, and even Shakespeare! Well, we're still working on that last one, but the graphic novel adaptations of the Bard's works are a big help. :) Any donations will be so appreciated by terrific, big-hearted, deserving kids!
