I am requesting funds to purchase 2 ipad minis for my classroom as well as 2 Osmos. The ipad minis will be used during my Daily 5 Literacy, math, as well as other times. I currently bring my older ipads and find it quite useful for helping students with sight words, downloaded books, clocks, money, and general use of technology. The Osmos is an add-on to the ipad and fosters social intelligence and creative thinking by opening up the ipad to endless possibilities of physical play. This additional technology will bridge the real and digital games. Included with the Osmos is a set of 5 games. These games will allow my students to explore math, science, art, and more. I have researched this quite a bit and have found that it is helpful to use technology for our students with disabilities. This year I have a student with Aspergers and several students with fine motor delays. The ipad has been a great teaching tool to use with my students. I would love the opportunity to include more in my classroom. The benefits of receiving this donation are huge! Students love to be able to use technology and it is amazing at how much they already know how to do. Our future is technology. This will be used as an opportunity to push students to do more and learn more.
