Having a listening center in my classroom will increase student reading comprehension, motivation and self-confidence. When you have to reach 16 different readers with 16 different learning styles and capabilities, audiobooks can help bridge the gap and keep studets engaged in meaningful literacy activities. Audiobooks increase students' comprehension skills as well as allow them to feel accomplished and talk about books that their friends are reading. This sense of accomplishment paired with a quality, engaging audiobook can instill the desire and love for reading in students that will last a lifetime! Exposing all students to storytelling, no matter their reading level, is just one benefit of using audiobooks in the classroom.
