Second grade is a great time in a child's life to teach independence. Staying organized is a great step in becoming independent, but they need the tools in order to learn such a skill. My students each have their own desk that stores their books, journals, writing utensils, and additional school supplies. Their items are constantly falling on the floor. Their books are getting bent up and they often times can't find the item they need. There are just too many things jammed into their small desk. With this Lakeshore storage unit, my students will have a safe place to store their math workbooks, writing journals, and reading books. They will be responsible for making sure their materials are stored properly and kept neat. My hope is that they will keep the materials they need throughout the day, pencils, markers, scissors, glue, etc., inside their desk and the items they need for a particular subject area will be stored in this unit. This storage unit would greatly help the overall organization of our second grade classroom.
