It is hard to estimate just how great the impact of early exposure to engineering and STEM can be for my students. These new materials will give them an opportunity to work collaboratively to solve a real-world problem in a way that they have not had before. Students will not only learn about engineering; they will become engineers. Their confidence in STEM and openness to new fields of study and future investigations will be increased significantly through this project. My hope is that what they learn from this project will stay with them as they get older and begin to think about tough issues like environmental health/problems, natural disasters, helping others in need, and of course, determining their own personal course in life for college and career.

About my class
