Having a cheerful rug and soft pillows will invite students into the library space, creating opportunities for my students to foster their love for reading. One of my focus areas for this school year is to support language growth and development, especially since most of my students are English Language Learners. Having several pocket charts, sentence strips, and dry erase materials will allow me to present key vocabulary words and sentence frames we discuss in math, science, social studies, and language arts. Because these words will be displayed around the room, students will constantly be exposed to them throughout the day. My hope is that they will grow to appreciate language, being surrounded by it on a daily basis in my classroom.
