An 80 minute math block is too long for students to stay focused sitting at their traditional desk. My school is implementing morning meeting as part of our daily routine next year. I would love an area rug for the students to sit on. I cannot imagine how morning meeting would be possible without a central location for the students to gather. The area rug would also be used during the mini lessons, and as the students are doing center work. The bed risers would be used to elevate some of the desks. This would be perfect for students who would like to stand while they work. The exercise balls would be excellent seating options for students who typically fidget in their chair. The goal is for my classroom to become a more motivating and comfortable environment that the students want to be in.
