I teach Special Education in the Bronx, NY where my students live in a high poverty community, some children live in shelters while others go home to the basics, and rely on school for their meals. In my special education classroom a lot of my students have little to no books and are lacking basic reading skills. The school I work at gets funding, but not enough to provide each classroom with libraries. Being a new teacher, I have bought books for my library but students are running out of new books to explore & could use some fresh, lower level books to read this year
