My students attend high school in a working class town in California. Our school takes pride in its award winning Instrumental and Vocal music programs. We are undefeated in Badminton. We have wonderful Dance and Arts programs. We have wonderful students many who are going to be the first in their families to graduate high school and go to college. But we are also a school with gang related problems. Many of our students have difficulty finding motivation to learn and come from family situations that are struggling to support them. Many of these students have trouble learning in classrooms where they are expected to sit quietly while someone lectures to them. These are also wonderful students who deserve a chance need access to the internet to allow them to be successfull in college and the workforce. This is true for advanced AP students as well as remedial students struggling to graduate from high school.
