My classroom is located in a close-knit community located within a large, urban city. Every day students come to school eager to learn, work, and play together. My school fully embraces an inquiry model of learning and teaching which emphasizes students' questions, collaborations, research methods, and unique methods of sharing learning with a wider audience. The school and classroom culture cultivates a sense of wonder and use of the imagination. Units of study in reading, writing, math, and the content areas encourages the students to share their interests and connections with learning. Additionally, as a technology magnet school teacher, I look for opportunities to incorporate technology when it helps students connect with new information in an accurate, relevant, and meaningful way. I come to school each day ready to dive into a new lesson with some of the most creative people I know - my students!
