Having these flexible seating options will increase learning in the classroom. Children have a 9-10 minute attention span. After 17 minutes, their brain goes dormant. These seating options allow them to move while learning, keeping their brain alert and focused. By being able to move more, they are able to use up their excess energy, burn calories and are more motivated and engaged, all while learning. Research has shown that movement while learning will promote increased understanding and better overall health. All of these things are accomplished by flexible seating that I am proposing for my classroom. It's about children first!
