Flexible seating is a big movement in today's education. We are teaching students more than just academic standards--we are teaching them 21st century skills they need to help them succeed in our demanding, ever-changing world. Research shows that classrooms that are designed to support the variety of learners and young people often have increased student engagement, which translates into increased student growth. By giving students a choice in finding a spot where they learn best, they feel empowered to take ownership of their learning. I have chosen several flexible seating options including stools and balance balls, that will meet the needs of my 25 kids and students in years to come. These options let students have the opportunity to learn in a 21st century classroom, where they can relax and learn every day. The flexible seating options that I chose will allow students to incorporate movement into their day, improving their health and their focus. Flexible seating offers students the chance to be active in the classroom setting. These options will improve their every day education!
