Kindergarten unarguably sets the tone for future educational experiences both inside and outside the classroom. We strongly believe that integrating social-emotional learning with the simple joy of reading a good book can make or break a child’s outlook on education. Additionally this can help foster self-awareness and acceptance of others. Our goal is not only get our students excited to learn, but to provide them with rich experiences, and tools that they will be able to utilize beyond our classroom. We will foster social-emotional learning and early literacy skills by providing rich and engaging experiences by utilizing an accessible reading center (bookshelf), rich and diverse literature (social-emotional books), and home-school literacy activity bags. We have a firm belief that learning should be fun, meaningful and viewed as important by all stakeholders. What better way to foster this, than through the joy of reading?
