I am a theatre arts teacher serving multiple grade levels at the school ranging from Kindergarten to 8th grade. In performing arts, music and dance we have students ranging from 5 years of age to 14 years of age. Our school is 98% latino. Most of our students have never attended a live theater production. The closest they get to seeing a show is a performance at school or during a scheduled field trip. Every year our school puts on a winter and spring production which involves some classrooms. It also puts on an end of year performance which student audition for. This year we put on our first evening performance through our production of "Shrek Jr." and had a great turn out, but our sound equipment was not to up to par. Unfortunately, our students voices were drowned by the lack of quality in the microphones and equipment.
