I have a third grade class of 16 boys and 9 girls. My students love to read. When they have completed assignments, they are encouraged to read independently, so they are always eager to complete their assignments so that they can have independent reading time If they had book sacs on their chairs, they would have their favorite reading materials readily available. We have just received a gift of new Science and Math magazines. If the students are able to access them at will, with book sacks, it would be great! When I'm teaching students on the rug, I balance a small white board on my lap to take notes or create class charts. The addition of a portable white board would allow the students to contribute to the lesson. It would also allow me to create anchor charts with the class that we could use again and again.
