Math manipulatives will help increase engagement and interest in our math lessons. We will be using these tools every day throughout the entire year in whole group, small group, and independent math time. By having a variety of different manipulatives, students will be able to gain confidence in using many kinds of strategies to solve math problems. The use of manipulatives will help students connect ideas and integrate their knowledge, which makes their mathematical thinking concrete. These tools will help make the abstract ideas of math concrete so that they gain a deep understanding of mathematical concepts. Students will be actively building on their knowledge of number sense, number relationships, and math meaning by working collaboratively and with these math tools.
