My students are very inspired to research topics on their own when they use computers. When I ask them what they like best about science, they tell me: "Using the computers!" Students will use the laptops to research information about a particular topic, and take that information to create presentations to teach the class what they have discovered. This allows every group to have different information, so we get an in-depth knowledge of a particular topic. In this way we learn so much more about each topic. Presentations include, but are not limited to: slide shows, songs, plays, newscasts, and documentaries. In learning this way, students take ownership of their learning and become independent learners.
