Many of my current students are involved in extra curricular activities such as volleyball, football, dance, cheer, soccer, student government, etc. My students are enthusiastic about their classes with me. They are being given an opportunity to learn skills than many of us were taught nine years ago. It has been NINE years since my school has had the course Family and Consumer Science, formally known as Home Economics. My students are on the go and often resort to eating fast food because that is all they know how and was taught to do. They continuously wear garments with holes in them or throw away perfectly good garments because there is a rip in the seam, again because they do not know how to repair a hole. Nearly 80% of the student who attend my school receive free or reduced lunch. I recently held a bake sale fundraiser to help more than 1/2 of my students who could not afford the class fee.
