My students learn more by doing and hands-on activities. With the obstacle of being online for a year due to the pandemic, most of my students started their first grade year knowing half or less of their letter and sounds, and minimal fine motor skills. I have requested lacing cards, sight word games, puzzles, and headphones. With the help of these manipulatives, my students can stay engaged longer while working to strengthen their letter and sounds, as well as creating a strong foundation for writing and reading. The headphones will be used for individual lessons so the students are able to work at their own pace and help fill the gaps.
