I teach first graders in rural Alabama and next year will be focusing on ELA. Our new principal encourages us to think out of the box. Most of these children eat free lunch and school funding for classrooms is limited. I am already planning to raise a table for standing and lower another for floor seating but the items I requested will add comfort and color to the classroom. In addition, I am going to try to make my own seating bench. I've looked at thrift stores but still need help to get the right seating for my students. I envision students entering and going to a spot of their choice to read or write in a place of comfort. Flexible seating will permit them to have an area that provides warmth and helps with the wiggles. I appreciate you considering donating to this cause.
