I am blessed to work with the youngest cherubs in our building: Kindergarten - 2nd Grade. The wee ones with whom I work have extra special learning needs. Some have been identified as needing Individualized Education Programs (IEP) to ensure they get all we can give them to "kinda-sorta" level the playing field. The others with whom I work are in the process of being referred to receive Special Education Services to see if they can qualify for IEP intervention. These inner-city children are my heart. I, too, came from the neighborhood where everyone struggled to get by and sometimes school was the only place that was safe and where food was available. I want to make sure the learning environment I create is safe and nurturing for these little ones, as well.
