My students are expected to work in kitchen teams two to three times per week. With four classes of 25 students per day, I rely on my students' ability to work collaboratively to correct and refine the actions of team members to ensure productivity. My class equips students with the foundational knowledge and skills to pursue careers in the culinary field as competent entry-level quick service and hospitality employees. Your donation will help all of my students. The aprons that I have selected will clearly identify student teams and encourage camaraderie. The oven mitts and non slip cutting boards contribute to our safety & sanitation procedures. The color coded knives are my attempt to help students correctly identify and describe hand tools used in a commercial kitchen. Lessons on types and uses for knives will be enhanced by color coded knives and the color will help students to better remember this concept. We students and I are in a unique classroom situation and are expected to transition to three different learning areas throughout the week. The white board and utility cart that I selected will help to ease these transitions. There is no white board in our kitchen laboratory so being able to roll the mobile board into the kitchen will prove invaluable. My students understand that budgeting is a huge piece of our classroom and kitchen success. Funding that I receive from the county is put largely towards purchasing food and consumable supplies. Your donations will help to transform our classroom kitchen into a more effective and exciting place to learn.
