"You can't lead people if you don't love and you can't save people if you don't serve people." My classroom environment is built on those two principles; love and service; love to serve and serve those who we love. Theatre and English students are taught to use their skills as scholars, artists, engineers, and technicians to serve their community and be a voice for those they love. Students collaborate and innovate new ways of doing this while challenging one another to be better human beings. Our performance space is a sacred space for students to grow, learn, explore, and develop their identities safely, while having fun. It is so rewarding to watch students discover themselves and realize so many of their skills as artists are transferable to all other disciplines. Its even more amazing to watch them use their skills and talents to empathize with and help those around them. They graduate empowered through art.
