My little ones are sometimes very active and need their own space to learn without anyone interrupting them or them interrupting the other students. They need to have the opportunity to find a spot in which they are able to focus and learn. Whether it is sitting on the carpet, chair, or anything in between. Just as it is hard for adults to stay still, it is even harder for our little ones to stay engaged and focus without a little movement. I do not use traditional seating in my classroom; my students sit on crates, but I am wanting to allow them to have other options of where they may sit to do their work, whether it be a wobble chair, an exercise ball, or a lap desk. At the moment we use our tables or a clipboard, but my active learners can be very easily distracted by others around them.
