It's important to have a nice flow of retrieving materials for each topic. My classroom is very small, for 30 students. So, when it comes to transition time we need to move quickly and efficiently to not waste learning time. Transition occurs about every 45 minutes. During transition time there is a song playing to ignite their learning for the next subject. The students learn how to enter and exit around (either to their mailboxes or cubbies) the room while getting their materials. Having chair pockets will help eliminate a few movements if they can store some notebooks, crayons and pencils on their chairs.
