Many students at my school have experienced homelessness, lack of basic needs and/or traumatic events. Due to these experiences, we often see an increase in anxious or aggressive behaviors when stressful or frustrating situations occur. By providing students with an area and resources to calm down, we are teaching them the appropriate social skills needed to be successful students and learners. These skills will be valuable in overcoming the challenges life brings. My project includes enough fidgets (good for calming anxious bodies) and supplies for calm down bottles for every classroom in my school. Every teacher and student will be taught how to use these "Calm Down Kits" and they will be available in an accessible location within each classroom to use at any time needed.
