When students have choice, they feel a sense of ownership of the classroom, which is highly motivational and empowering for my young learners. The materials that I have requested will allow my students more choices about where and how to sit as they work and learn. Many of my students learn better when they are allowed the space they need to wiggle and move in the classroom. Other benefits of flexible seating in the classroom include better physical health of students, comfort in the classroom, stronger classroom community, and sensory input to help students focus and process information. By donating to this project, you will be helping my first graders improve their focus, feel comfortable, feel empowered, be healthier, and as a result, will help increase their academic achievement.
